Sterling Silver Overlay Belt Buckle with Sun Face Design From Golden Eagle Trading, 1980's Lester Gene. This beautiful highly polished buckle is new, old stock and features a cut-out sun face design similar to Hopi overlay work. It is curved for a better fit and measures approximately 1 3/4" long x 1 3/8" wide and will fit up to a 1 wide belt. It is stamped "Sterling" and "GE" on the back. This buckle is highly polished and much shinier than it appears in the photo.
We found this gem in the" back room" of a trader friend of ours and he told us the story of the buckle. Golden Eagle Trading was located in Albuquerque and hired silversmiths to work in their shop. Finished items were not signed by the individual craftsmen but signed with a modified "GE" logo.
At some point the shop closed and our friend's father bought most of the remaining inventory, including this buckle. He thought that it was probably made in the 1980's. It was never used so we call it new, old stock.
